Royal Princess

My colleague and I recently attended the CLIA 2015 Cruise convention in Southampton and during this time we visited the Royal Princess (Princess Cruises).

When we embarked the ship we entered at the Piazza (Atrium) and were really impressed. It creates a perfect first glimpse of the ship and is a lovely area to use throughout the day on board. The Piazza goes over a few floors with a large open floor in the middle. This area is used for Captain’s Gala evenings, musical performances and is also a great place to just sit and relax. Just off from the Piazza there are plenty of places to get a drink or light bite to eat whilst being entertained; Crooners bar, Bellini’s, Alfredo’s, International Café, Vines and Gelato

On the lower decks you will find the main restaurants, casino, Spa, Vista Lounge, Princess Live and the main theatre. The Vista Lounge turns into a nightclub in the evening so this is a perfect venue to dance the night away. Unfortunately we were only on board for the day and therefore we were not lucky enough to see any of the evening entertainment held on board. However we were told about Princess Live which is a new venue and a first at sea, it is a TV studio where you can experience late night game shows, culinary shows, live concerts and interactive quiz entertainment.

There are many dining options available on board and not just the main restaurants. They offer the Trident Grill, Pizzeria, Horizon court (buffet restaurant) and also Crown Grill (at a surcharge) their speciality restaurant.

Upon the open deck they have a main pool and also the Sanctuary, an Adult-only escape area. The Sanctuary is a lovely relaxing area exclusive for adults at a small charge. By the main pool they also have their Seawalk, only for the brave, a glass walk over the edge of the ship. In the evening by the main pool they also have a water show consisting of water fountains to music and lights, this is supposed to be an amazing performance.

Overall I was really impressed with the ship and would certainly consider it for a future cruise.
